Reflecting on January

Happy Friday! I’m currently planted on the sofa waiting for my Deliveroo – chips with a side of prosecco (who knew my local chippy did prosecco?!). Since it’s finally February I thought I would look back on some of my New Year’s resolutions and see if I’ve managed to stick to them, whilst sharing some things that I’ve been loving over the past few weeks, so grab a glass of wine/prosecco/beverage of your choice!

All I want for Christmas: A Gift Guide for Her

This post is sponsored

I’m writing this blog post on a Sunday afternoon; I’ve just had a massive roast dinner, Toy Story is on TV and best of all, it’s snowing outside. Sitting here with my Christmas tree lights on, candles burning and a cup of tea is making me feel all kinds of Christmassy so I thought it only appropriate to share my first festive post of the year. If you’re anything like me, you may have quite a bit of Christmas shopping to do and just not enough time to do it in – but worry no more because I’m coming at you with some of the best festive goodies on the market. Read on for some Christmas gift ideas…

Yesterday I was very kindly given the opportunity to check out Woodland’s newest salon, which opened in September in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle. I was offered a complimentary shellac nail treatment and a dermaquest facial, and let me just start by saying that it was one of the best and most relaxing beauty experiences I’ve ever had.

As soon as I arrived at the Baltic site I instantly felt at ease thanks to the friendly staff, and the relaxing music which made it a really tranquil atmosphere. I was firstly offered a shellac nail manicure, which is one of the most popular treatments they have. I opted for the shade ‘asphalt’ which is a really nice deep grey colour. The lovely Antonia applied the polish with such care and precision and it looks incredible. Their shellac polishes are glossy, chip resistant for up to two weeks, and don’t need any drying time after application which is a major bonus! I’ve had shellac treatments before which have chipped after a few hours, but I have high hopes for this one as they still look great and have no signs of wear at all even after just thoroughly cleaning the bathroom! On top of the colour, an almond oil was also applied to help strengthen and hydrate the nails. This is perfect for me because my nails keep splitting due to the cold weather and it has been driving me insane! They already feel tons better.

After my nails were all finished, I headed upstairs to their other treatment room for my facial. I actually wanted cry with happiness when I saw the room. It had the perfect ambience thanks to multiple candles suppling the only light, and the most relaxing soundtrack ever! They had a bed in the middle of the room with a heated blanket, which as you can imagine was pure bliss. I was treated to the Agera Oxo Bright facial, which uses antibacterial products. This means that you won’t get any unwanted breakouts afterwards, and because of this it’s often the choice of celebrities before the red carpet. I felt very special indeed! The treatment lasted about 30 minutes, and I can’t even begin to tell you just how relaxing it was. I very almost fell asleep, and I didn’t want it to ever end! The facial is an oxygenating treatment which works to purify, hydrate and detoxify the skin. Basically how it works is the oxygenating peptides work their way into the skin and act as a heating mask which helps to increase your circulation for a brighter and more even complexion.

I can already see and feel a difference in my skin just after the one treatment. My face definitely looks brighter and feels so soft! I couldn’t stop feeling my face on the way home which probably looked very strange. I’ll for sure be back in the near future for some more treatments, and whole heartedly recommend checking it out if you’re after an amazing beauty experience! They also have salons in Aigburth and Woolton for anyone interested!.

A huge thank you to Woodlands for having me and making me feel like a million bucks!
