A Spring Outfit

It’s hard to imagine that these images were taken on an uncharacteristically warm day in February, when April’s weather is so gloomy at the moment. The rain has made me appreciate the fact that I have a week away in Spain booked for a couple of months time, that’s for sure. I guess they don’t call them ‘April Showers’ for nothing.

Liverpool’s waterfront is the place to be on a sunny day, so naturally Dan and I headed straight there when the sun decided to pay the city a visit. I love Spring because the ever-fluctuating British weather at this time of year allows for lots of creativity when it comes to layering. As someone who used to spend hours in the back garden tying knots in t-shirts to DIY my own tie dye top when I was younger, I am enjoying seeing it come back around again. I can’t guarantee I’ll be going all out on this trend, but I’m loving this more muted and subtle take on tie dye in the form of this mesh long-sleeved top from New Look. It was only about £12 so a proper bargain! I’ve been wearing it both on it’s own and layered under shirts and t-shirts, so it’s a really versatile piece.

This shirt is admittedly one that I would have never looked at twice on a rail myself, but I was invited into a Personal Shopping session at Topshop by Amelia Grace Marshall and it was one of the pieces that she had selected for me. As soon as I tried it on I knew it had to come home with me. It’s such a timeless shirt and it can pretty much be worn with anything and everything. I can’t wait to wear it with denim shorts and mini skirts in summer – it would even look great over a bikini on the beach! The other piece that I purchased from my session with Amelia were these straight leg jeans. I already have a pair in a mid-blue wash and I was in the market for another pair, so it worked out perfectly. They’re such a staple piece in my wardrobe – I’d highly recommend heading to Topshop if you’re after a good pair of straight leg jeans.
