Spring Florals

In the words of Miranda Priestly, “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” It may not be anything new, but it’s still a firm favourite for 2018’s warmer months. There’s something about the warmer weather that makes me want to have flowers, flowers and more flowers. I’m a young Theresa May running through a field, apart from the wheat is replaced with flowers, political beliefs significantly altered and the only bombing I’m doing is spraying Viktor & Rolf’s ‘Flowerbomb’ perfume.

Seriously though, florals will always be a Spring failsafe that I return to year after year. A new addition to my wardrobe this season is this powder blue, whimsical dress from Boohoo. Boohoo is not a brand that I usually gravitate to, but having had this little number saved in my ASOS wishlist for months and months I decided it was finally time to bite the bullet and give it a go – there’s no harm done to your bank balance either thanks to Klarna! Honestly, if you haven’t checked Klarna out yet – do it! It’s both the best and worst thing that’s ever happened to me. After a pretty hefty ASOS order (I had points to spend ok?) this dress is actually the only thing that I ended up keeping from the lot.

Something that pleasantly surprised me about it is that it has a slip underneath – HALLELUJAH! Finally, something goes right for me and highstreet brands have started including slips under (some) of their sheer clothing. The amount of times I have left behind a beautiful dress in a shop because you can pretty much see my birthday suit is ridiculous – sure, I could just buy a slip but that’s just time and money I’m not willing to part with. Apart from the clear advantage of the slip, there are many other reasons that I’m loving this dress. The colour, the detail and spacing between the flowers and the fact that it gives me ‘Little House on the Prairie’ vibes which I’m all for.

For this look I’ve paired it with two of my absolute favourite pieces in my wardrobe at the moment – my basket bag and cowboy boots. My bag actually attracted a lot of attention from the cashier at Aldi the other day as he asked my a whole load of questions about it like ‘what is it?’ and ‘what do I use it for?’ – errr it’s a BAG and I use it for bag stuff like to CARRY MY THINGS IN. It’s called fashion, look it up. No, but seriously I understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and it definitely isn’t the most practical, but I love it nonetheless.

It may be gearing up for summer here in the UK but that doesn’t mean I’ll be packing away my boots. I do love a good sandal, but ankle boots are still a staple in my Spring/Summer wardrobe and I’m willing to sacrifice cool breezy feet in the name of fashion. These Topshop western cowboy boots have been nothing but a dream to wear since I bought them, and they seem to go with pretty much everything. You may have to surgically remove them from my feet as I can’t see myself taking them off any time soon.

Anyway, that’s it from me for now but stay tuned for an upcoming blog post featuring me in a field full of flowers (genuinely, it’s coming).
