April seems to have flown by in the blink of an eye. I’m not complaining – it’s another month closer to my USA jollies, although that does mean I have less time to get saving those dollars. Even though this month feels to have passed in no time at all, I’ve still managed to accumulate a few April favourites.
FITNESS: BIKE RIDES
My personal trainer has been reminding me (on more than one occasion) that apparently I have to do even more exercise than when I’m just with him. I finally bit the bullet and decided to go for a run with my boyfriend. Horrible mistake. I’d tried running a few years ago and absolutely hated it, but since I’ve been going to the gym regularly for a few months now I thought that I surely must have the fitness that I didn’t before to be able to give it a good go. How wrong I was. After about 10 minutes of stopping and starting with a horrendous stitch, and being told that I have a ridiculous run (think Phoebe from Friends) I of course did what anyone would – gave up. Apparently my inability to run was a blessing in disguise because it has led me to greener pastures – cycling. When I say cycling I don’t mean anything strenuous, I am cycling alongside my boyfriend who is running so I don’t pick up too much speed, but I’m loving it. I live right by the waterfront in Liverpool so cycling up and down the promenade on a sunny day is the dream, even if the periods of cobbles have almost thrown me off my bike more than once.
BOOK: BEHIND HER EYES BY SARAH PINBOROUGH
I can’t stress enough how much I liked this book. I finished it in around three settings, which is pretty good for me considering how little time I have to read, but trust me when I say I made time for this book. My friend read it after me and loved it just as much, and let me know that Sarah is releasing another novel very soon which I am beyond excited for. If you like thrillers and mysterious plots I would highly recommend giving this one a go.
TV: HOMELAND
I know, I’m very late to the party with this one. My boyfriend and I were looking for something to watch on Netflix and after my mum raving about it to me for a good few years now, we decided to give it a go and I am very happy we did. I love TV shows about crime/spies/the government and all that jazz so it’s a no brainer that I would become hooked on this.
BEAUTY: CARBON COCO
If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen that the Australian brand Carbon Coco sent me some teeth whitening goodies a few months back. The package came with an Activated Charcoal Tooth Polish, Activated Charcoal Toothpaste and a cute little tooth brush. I’ve got to say, I love it! As I mentioned earlier, I’m heading off to America this summer so I definitely need pearly whites to fit in over there! Best of all, the products are entirely cruelty-free and vegan friendly. I’d highly recommend trying it out if you’re looking for an affordable whitening treatment.
LIFESTYLE: CAR
Last but not least, we have a car! My first one. It’s a very old Nissan that we were very kindly given for free as someone was looking to get rid of it. We don’t have much need for a car at the moment as we live pretty central to town and within walking distance to work, but it’s nice to get behind the wheel again. I’d not actually driven since passing my test about a year ago, so it’s safe to say that I’m a bit rusty but it’s good to get some practice in before I completely forget how to drive. Unfortunately, the only roadtrips we have planned it in at the moment is to the local Tesco, but I’m hoping that will change come summer…
So, that’s it for my April favourites! I’d love to know what you’ve been loving this month?
