I thought I would do something a bit more relaxed on my blog today and write a chatty, update style post about what I’ve been up to over the last few weeks. I think it’s refreshing to not have a particular focus on a certain topic or theme from time to time, so that’s what I’m doing in this post. So, on the off chance that you’re interested even slightly in my life, read on…

I’m painfully aware that I need to be bikini ready in a little under five months, and with that scary thought my boyfriend and I have finally bit the bullet and hired a personal trainer. The main reason for this is because I can’t be trusted to push myself when I’m working out alone, and I don’t actually have much knowledge of the gym or what workouts I need to be doing to achieve my desired results. We’ve had two sessions so far and I’ve got to say the obvious – it’s hard. So much so that I could barely walk for two days after my first go. Despite this I’ve got to say that it is definitely the right decision for me. I’ve even experienced my first ‘runner’s high’ (is that what they call it?) – where you feel energised and slightly hyper after working out. Fingers crossed I can keep it up.

I’m still sticking to my vegetarian diet which I am very happy that I have managed to keep up. I originally was just going to refine it to January to see how I would cope, and I had it in my head that I wouldn’t be ‘strict’ with myself and that if I fancied some meat I would let myself have some. We’re well into March now and I haven’t touched any since 2017 and honestly, I can’t see myself going back now. It’s strange, I really can’t imagine eating it anymore and the thought makes me feel slightly ill. Perhaps that’s what your body just convinces you after a significant period of telling yourself you can’t have something. That doesn’t stop me from having the odd dream about chicken nuggets though (sad but true).

M U S I C

When I was still living at home, I loved nothing more than shutting myself in my room and spending hours at a time discovering new music and artists. Ever since I came to uni, I have been guilty of neglecting this pastime – from studying to socialising, the past four years of my life I’ve not really had much time to myself to properly sit down and listen to music. I’ve been trying to get back into the habit of broadening my horizons and listening to more bands and artists. I may do a post about some of my favourites in the future because it’s something I’ve always been passionate about.

I’ve been loving a couple of law-based shows recently. After finishing Breaking Bad a few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I started watching Better Call Saul. Saul was always one of my favourite characters in Breaking Bad so I was very happy to find that he had his own spin off show. I, like many I’m sure, never really have high expectations for spin off’s but I’m very pleasantly surprised at how much I’m enjoying it. Another show I’ve been enjoying recently is How To Get Away With Murder, which also centres around the law. I’ve always been interested in the court room, I actually considered studying law at one point, so I really enjoy watching things that centre around it. Making A Murderer and The People Vs OJ Simpson are next on my list.

If you read my last post, you’ll know that I’m trying to get back into the habit of reading more regularly. I always had a book under my arm as a child and now I want to do my best to rekindle my love for reading. I picked up ‘The Lying Game’ by Ruth Ware a couple of days ago and I am really enjoying it so far. I’m almost half way though and I only started reading it yesterday, so that should give you an idea of how much I am liking it! It’s a mystery/thriller novel which is my favourite genre of book – if you’re the same as me I would highly recommend giving it a read.

I hope you enjoyed reading something a little different on my blog today (congratulations on getting to the end!). I really like writing these kinds of posts so I’m thinking of making them a regular thing. I’d love to know what you’ve been enjoying recently – and feel free to leave me recommendations for books, shows, music, whatever!
