Why hello! I’m embarrassed to say that it has been exactly a month since I last updated my blog. Life, as it tends to do, got in the way a fair bit the last few weeks and has had me up the wall and desperate for yet another break (Christmas never really leaves you feeling refreshed, does it?).
Whilst I had a lovely week off, the constant travelling from place to place, making plans to see everyone and drinking and eating everything in sight has left me feeling somewhat exhausted. On top of this, I moved flat! I’m very excited about this and I’m BEYOND happy with our new home (hello dishwasher!), but you can never quite prepare for how stressful moving is – and not having internet for two weeks, another reason for the lack of blogging. Now that my wifi is well and truly up and running (finally) and I’ve very nearly completely unpacked everything I’m back to bloggersphere.
As it’s my first post of 2018, I thought I’d share some of my goals, hopes and dreams for the year ahead. I’ve tried to be realistic with my ‘resolutions’ for this year, whilst still trying to push and challenge myself so we’ll see how far I get with them.
First things first, I want to pour my heart and soul into my blog. This sounds very dramatic and against what I said a second ago, but I’m really inspired and excited about my upcoming content. My plan is to post at least once a week (ideally twice, but realisticness and all that) and to be as creative with it as I possibly can. I’ve got a few ideas in the pipelines and the photographer who I’m working with at the moment is great to bounce concepts and ideas off of and putting it into action – exciting things to come to Daisycuttings in the very near future!
Now, I’m sure this one is on a lot of people’s lists but I need to hit the gym. Admittedly, this was last year’s resolution and whilst I did pretty well to start, it didn’t last the whole year. I’ve been once since I came back from Spain, which was July. I don’t like to dwell on how much money I’ve wasted on my gym membership this year. So, 2018 is the year of fitness! I’m going to Florida in July and I am determined to feel my best and most confident self so it’s an essential part of the year. I’d also like to be able to not feel like I’m going to fall over after going up a few flights of stairs.
Another thing that I would love to do this year is explore more of my surroundings. Whether that’s try a new bar or restaurant in Liverpool, venture out to the nearby countryside or just pick a direction and walk and see what’s there. This isn’t a very challenging or exciting goal I’ll admit, but I think it’s nice to discover new things that have been right under your nose the whole time.
Last but certainly not least, I’ve gone veggie! I’ve always tried to not eat meat in the week anyway, but since the new year I’ve cut it out all together. I waved goodbye to my meat eating ways on New Year’s Eve with a delicious spaghetti bolognese as a final send off. I’ve been toying with the idea of being a vegetarian for a long while now, cutting down the amount of meat I’ve been consuming gradually, but to be honest I’ve never been a massive carnivore so to say. As a self proclaimed massive animal lover I thought it was time to stop contributing to the meat industry and stock up on my carrots. That’s not to say that I’ll be too hard on myself if I end up drunkenly eating a chicken nugget or two though.
