Hello everyone and welcome to a brand spanking new series on my blog! I want to keep things fresh and relevant over here, and of course consistent so you lovely readers will know what to expect from me. I was having a little ponder over some ideas, and decided that I would launch a series where I chat about this season’s key pieces. So, without further ado, I introduce to you, Talking Trends! I’m hoping that this will be interesting and relevant to a few of you, and it should be a good challenge for me to select what trends to focus on and make sure I create properly scheduled content. I’m planning on making this a weekly series, (with a different series also coming soon) so please let me know if there are any trends you would like me to feature.
Now that you hopefully have a bit more of an idea of the sort of content I’m looking to create in the coming weeks, let’s get into actually talking about the trend. As you will be able to tell from both the title of this post and the pictures, the first trend of this season is gingham. I thought I would start off with this because it is quite possibly my absolute favourite at the moment. If you’ve walked into any shop at all over the last few weeks, you will have seen it EVERYWHERE! There’s gingham bags, trousers, shoes, skirts, dresses, tops – the works. It’s also available in pretty much every colour under the sun.
I’ve recently been scouring a lot of shops in the search of the perfect gingham piece for me, and I can definitely say I found it with this skirt from Zara. The thing that I love about it the most is that it’s red, adding that ever so needed pop of colour for this time of year. The ruffled and dipped hemline makes it so unique and interesting, and I have to say, it did make me feel slightly like the dancing lady emoji which is never a bad thing. It also bares a strong resemblance to a picnic blanket which I actually really like! I paired the skirt with this lovely baby pink top from Toyshop with ruffle details around the collar and flared sleeves (pink and red colour combo is also everywhere right now!). Of course a pair of trusty converse never go amiss in springtime. Mine are actually a Primark special that I bought in a panic last summer for an outdoor event, but they work just as well.
For each of these posts I will be linking the items I am wearing at the bottom as always, but I also will be including a number of alternative pieces based on the trend so make sure to check them out and see if any take your fancy!
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed the first instalment of the series!
